Why Indonesian coal production is still increasing despite low prices

Report summary
During our a recent research trip to Jakarta, we met with 15 stakeholders in the coal industry, including. They include producers, contractors , and traders. The trip was conducted in September, when the prices hadve been depressed for half a month and many were worried about the outlook. Despite the low prices and potential challenges to the rest of the year, Indonesian production numbers still show no obvious supply cutback response. We examine why this is happening.
