Sabodala-Massawa is an open pit operation comprising two principal areas: the Sabodala Lot A permit (Sabodala, Masato, Gora, Golouma, Kerekounda, Maki Medina, Niakafiri, Kiesta and Soukhoto pits) and the Massawa property (Massawa Central Zone, North Zone, Sofia and Delya pits). These are mined using conventional open pit truck-and-shovel methods. Ore is processed through two dedicated plants: the Sabodala Whole Ore Leach Plant (SWOLP), a conventional carbon-in-leach (CIL) circuit with a nominal design capacity of approximately 4.5 Mt/a based on a 25% oxide feed blend, and the Sabodala Sulphide Treatment Plant (SSTP), a bacterial oxidation (BIOX®) refractory ore circuit with a nominal capacity of approximately 1.2 Mt/a, which is expected to increase to approximately 1.38 Mt/a by 2027 following planned optimisation.
