Block 60 (Abu Butabul) is located in west central Oman, around 40 kilometres from the Saudi Arabia border. Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) discovered the Abu Butabul gas field in 1998, but relinquished the rights due to the challenging tight gas reservoir. BG acquired the Block in 2006 and drilled seven appraisal wells before exiting in 2010. In 2011, Oman Oil Company (now OQ), signed a 30-year Exploration and Production Sharing Agreement (EPSA) for the block. OQ developed the Abu Butabul ...
