The Pluto gas field is situated 190 kilometres offshore in the Carnarvon Basin, Western Australia. Xena is around ten kilometres southeast of Pluto. Woodside developed Pluto and Xena via a remotely controlled platform, which exports gas via a 36-inch subsea pipeline to a 4.3 mmtpa, single-train LNG plant. The Final Investment Decision (FID) was taken on 27 July 2007. The project was initially expected to come onstream in late 2010, but the first LNG cargo was not shipped until May 2012.
