Report summary
Trinidad and Tobago has been experiencing gas production decline since 2015. Insufficient feedgas has lowered Atlantic LNG utilisation and strained the domestic petrochemical market, leading to the closure of two methanol plants. We recently returned from our annual research trip to Port of Spain, Point a Pierre, and Point Lisas in Trinidad and Tobago. We met with E&P companies, government agencies, and industry stakeholders to assess the state of the industry. We addressed the following questions in our interactions. Will Juniper solve the gas shortfall or is it a temporary fix for ongoing gas curtailments? Do Savannah and Macadamia signal the start of a new exploration era in Trinidad?
